The fall has arrived in Illinois a few weeks ago and most trees still have a couple of colorful leafs. We've been to Kickapoo (no shit) State Park on the weekend to stroll the woods. I have a car now and finally got a US drivers license. Thank you Jesse White Secretary of State!

MediaWiki 1.9.1 is out and apparently my GMap extension didn't work anymore. The reason is the WikiText parsing for the marker labels. This is fixed now and I proudly present GMap v0.2.2

If you have a Java3D application which suddenly (after an upgrade) throws these exceptions like candy

javax.media.j3d.BadTransformException: TransformGroup: non-affine transform

The simple solution is to downgrade Java3D to vesion 1.4

Of course the better solution is to fix your application, but you don't always have that choice. In my case it is the PSIA XEI software to view and analyze AFM pictures.

Yes, it's a tree

I went to Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks last weekend. Apart from friggin' huge trees there were tarantulas, rattlesnakes and bears. Scary pictures coming up...

Monday July 24th

Back to my airconditioned desk at work. The weekend broke some temperature records. Livermore had 113°F, which translates to 45°C. At least it is a dry heat. But when you are riding a bike it feels like your eyeballs are becoming raisins.

Friday July 7th

I just bought a new GPS receiver, Garmin Foretrex 101. Now i figured out how to download trails and convert them to my GMap extension format. The trail on the right shows our hike up a hill in Berkeley to look at the 4th of July fireworks in the Bay Area. Aaahhhhhsome!
